The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a Mechanical Technician (Fitter) within the Maintenance Services Mechanical Team. The Department provides essential engineering and maintenance support services on the CSL Behring Broadmeadows site. This includes providing support to manufacturing facilities for fractionation of human plasma into pharmaceutical products.
CSL Behring (Broadmeadows) is undergoing extensive and positive change as we expand our capability and capacity. In addition to contributing to Australia’s export economy, CSL has invested in substantial new manufacturing facilities at Broadmeadows that will provide Australia with further high skills science and manufacturing employment opportunities and strengthen capabilities to develop and commercialise future new medicines onshore in Australia.

The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Engineer - Utilities you will possess experience conducting preventative maintenance tasks, inspections, corrective and breakdown maintenance on process, plant and equipment. This includes:
- Demonstrated experience in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and overhaul of a broad range of industrial equipment, including rotary lobe, centrifugal, liquid ring, and diaphragm pumps, sump pumps, vessel agitators, heat exchangers, and process valves.
- Proven experience in hydraulic and pneumatic systems maintenance, fault finding, and repair.
- Extensive experience working on steam and condensate systems, including boilers, boiler feedwater pumps, pressure reducing valves, pressure relief valves, steam traps, and associated steam distribution equipment.
- Experience maintaining and servicing air handling and ventilation systems, including dampers, ducting, extraction/exhaust fans, and supply air fans.
- Strong technical knowledge of steam generation, distribution, and condensate recovery systems, including associated components and control devices.
- Sound understanding of reagent handling and dosing systems, including sodium hydroxide (caustic), hydrochloric acid (HCl), acetic acid, and nitric acid systems.
- Knowledge of hazardous area requirements and safe work practices within bulk chemical storage and tank farm environments.
- Competent in confined space entry, tank inspections, and maintenance activities, with a strong focus on safety and compliance.
- Proficient in welding repairs and fabrication, with demonstrated TIG stainless steel welding experience.
- Proven ability to identify and implement maintenance solutions that improve equipment reliability, plant availability, and operational performance.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), with sound knowledge of GMP principles in pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environments. Experience with SAP is preferable.

- Mechanical Trade Certificate III, Indentured Mechanical Fitter.
- Highly motivated, reliable, and proactive, with strong initiative in solving mechanical issues within process and plant environments.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and manage tasks independently.
- Experience working in regulated/GMP environments, with an understanding of strict hygiene, compliance, and traceability standards.
- Strong commitment to occupational health, safety, and environmental standards, with flexibility to support shutdowns and changing operational requirements.
Confined space certification is advantageous, though training can be provided..
