Position Available: Operations Supervisor
Location: Hazelmere, Perth
About the Role:
We’re searching for a motivated and experienced Operations Supervisor to lead and coordinate daily transport operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of services for trip movements originating and terminating at our Hazelmere Depot.
The key role supports operational performance through proactive scheduling, driver coordination, clear communication with internal stakeholders, maintaining service standards and supporting driver wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strong day-to-day leadership, direction and support to the team maintaining an inclusive and positive workplace that is psychologically safe for all employees.
- Ensure appropriate initiative exists to drive retention and reduce turnover to a minimum.
- Ensure team members have the correct equipment, training and materials to conduct their roles effectively and safely.
- Manage workforce planning and rostering to ensure operational coverage and efficiency by monitoring attendance, leave, and workforce availability to maintain operational continuity.
- Maintain full accountability for the employee life cycle which includes recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, development, engagement, and retention.
- Manage workplace concerns, grievances, and interpersonal conflicts professionally and promptly in partnership with the People and Capability team.
- Allocate prime movers and trailers based on operational needs and equipment availability, providing clear departure schedules aligned with designated departure times.
- Ensure all scanning and manifesting requirements are completed accurately and on time.
- Manage driver rosters in line with fatigue management legislation and CoR requirements.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with receiving depots, escalating service delays or operational issues appropriately.
- Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions where required.
- Ensure mandatory training and compliance requirements including licence renewals and medicals are completed within the required timeframes.
- Participate in weekend work and act as the designated after-hours contact on a rotational roster.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Experience in supervising and leading large teams within a transport operations environment, ideally across multiple routes or regions
- Strong planning and scheduling skills
- Understanding of freight movement processes, scanning, and manifesting requirements
- Knowledge of fatigue management legislation and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations
- Strong communication skills to manage driver relationships and operational updates
- Proven track record in overseeing transport equipment allocation and depot operations
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and service delivery standards
- Proficiency in relevant transport systems and Microsoft Office tools
- Proven ability to manage driver rosters and support driver performance
- Exposure to freight scheduling, scanning, and manifesting processes
