Care Fast Group is seeking an experienced Male Disability Support Worker to provide structured, person-centred support to a male participant in Werribee.
We are particularly interested in candidates with a Corrections, Forensic Services, Justice, Security or similar background, who understand professional boundaries, risk management, structured support and working within established conditions and support plans.
About the Role
The participant requires consistent and structured support within a Supported Independent Living environment. The successful candidate will need to provide calm, professional support while maintaining clear boundaries, promoting independence and supporting safe community participation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide structured disability support within a SIL environment.
- Support the participant with daily routines, personal care prompting, grooming and household activities.
- Provide 1:1 support for community access, appointments and transport.
- Follow relevant supervision requirements, risk-management strategies and behaviour support plans.
- Maintain clear and consistent professional boundaries.
- Support emotional regulation using calm communication, redirection and de-escalation strategies.
- Use simple, clear communication and allow appropriate processing time.
- Assist with medication routines and attendance at health and allied health appointments as required.
- Support budgeting, shopping, meal preparation and development of independent living skills.
- Recognise early signs of distress or escalation and respond appropriately.
- Complete accurate progress notes, incident reports and handovers.
- Work collaboratively with Care Fast management and the participant’s wider support team.
About You
We are looking for a mature, confident and professional male support worker who can provide consistent support in a structured environment.
Highly Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working in Corrections, Community Corrections, Forensic Disability, Justice Services, Youth Justice, Security or similar environments.
- Experience supporting people with intellectual disability and complex support needs.
- Understanding of forensic risk, supervision requirements and safeguarding.
- Strong professional boundaries and situational awareness.
- Experience with positive behaviour support and de-escalation.
- Ability to remain calm, respectful and consistent during challenging situations.
- Strong observation, documentation and communication skills.
- Trauma-informed and person-centred approach.
Essential Requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children Check, where applicable
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Valid Australian Driver Licence
- Reliable and insured vehicle
- Current Police Check
- Relevant disability/community services qualification or demonstrated industry experience
- Ability to complete mandatory Care Fast training and compliance requirements
