Alya is seeking experienced Female Youth Support Workers to join the dedicated support team of a young female participant with complex, high-intensity support needs in Virginia.
We are looking for workers who bring together two equally important skill sets - the confidence and experience to safely provide high-intensity disability support, and the personality to connect with a young person, build trust and make her shifts engaging, positive and meaningful.
The participant requires support with epilepsy and seizure management, PEG feeding, personal care and manual handling, so previous experience with complex or high-intensity supports is strongly preferred.
About the Role
This is a hands-on support role where safety, consistency and attention to detail are essential. At the same time, we want workers who recognise that there is a young person behind the support needs and make her interests, choices and quality of life a priority.
Your shifts will include:
- Building a positive, trusting and consistent relationship
- Supporting epilepsy and seizure management
- Providing PEG feeding and enteral nutrition support
- Personal care and assistance with daily living
- Manual handling, transfers, positioning and mobility support
- Following individual health, mealtime and support plans
- Recognising and responding appropriately to changes in health or presentation
- Supporting communication, choice and participation
- Encouraging independence and involvement wherever possible
- Completing accurate shift documentation and health-related records
- Working collaboratively with family and the wider support team
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for experienced, capable and attentive Support Workers who are comfortable taking responsibility for complex support needs.
Just as importantly, you should genuinely enjoy working with young people. We want someone who can bring warmth and personality to a shift, build rapport and create opportunities for the participant to have fun, be involved and experience life beyond her care needs.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Have demonstrated experience with high-intensity or complex disability support
- Have experience supporting epilepsy and seizure management
- Have experience with PEG feeding / enteral feeding
- Are confident providing personal care
- Have strong manual handling and transfer skills
- Can follow detailed health and support plans consistently
- Are observant and confident recognising changes in a participant's health or presentation
- Remain calm and capable in unexpected or emergency situations
- Are engaging, patient and able to build genuine rapport with young people
- Have strong professional boundaries and communication skills
- Are reliable and understand the importance of consistency within a complex support team
This role requires an experienced worker. Confidence with complex care, following clinical protocols and responding appropriately to health-related risks is essential.
Essential Requirements
- Experience with complex and/or high-intensity supports
- NDIS Worker Screening clearance
- Working with Children / Blue Card
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Reliable vehicle and comprehensive car insurance
Experience or competency-based training in PEG feeding, epilepsy/seizure management and manual handling will be highly regarded.
