About the Program
During Yancoal Australia’s two-year Graduate Program, Environment & Community graduates will embark on a dynamic journey of professional development and hands-on learning.
You'll start with a structured onboarding experience, gaining insight into our values, operations, and strong safety culture. From there, you'll work alongside our site-based Environment and Community teams to gain valuable experience in environmental management, monitoring and reporting, and community engagement, as well as develop a broader understanding of our mining operations and the local communities within which we operate. These experiences will help you develop a strong understanding of environmental and social performance in mining, while building practical skills that support responsible and sustainable mining operations.
Working alongside experienced Environment & Community team members, you’ll contribute to meaningful projects, solve practical challenges, and apply your academic knowledge in real-world settings. You’ll play a role in delivering positive environmental outcomes by contributing to land management, biodiversity conservation, water stewardship and mine rehabilitation. You’ll also gain exposure to innovative technologies and leading practices that support continuous improvement across our operations.
Along the way, you’ll be supported through training and mentorship opportunities designed to accelerate your development, including:
- Hands-on experience at operating mine sites
- Exposure to the regulatory setting within which our mines operate, potentially across different jurisdictions
- Mentorship from a senior leader to broaden your perspective
- A pathway to a permanent full-time role upon successful completion of the program
