Master Martini Australia is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to support the growth of our Gelato and Food Ingredients division across Australia. This is a full-time position based in Sydney with regular interstate travel and occasional international travel for product and business training.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Sales, you will be responsible for developing new business opportunities and growing market share within the gelato, ice cream, bakery, hospitality and food manufacturing sectors. The role will involve managing existing customer relationships while primarily focusing on identifying and securing new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development strategies to grow sales across the gelato and food ingredients market.
- Identify, approach and secure new customers within the food manufacturing, bakery, hospitality and gelato sectors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and industry stakeholders.
- Oversee marketing strategies to promote the organisation’s offerings and reach a wide and diverse customer base
- Promote and sell a range of food ingredient products including gelato ingredients, margarine, butter, compound chocolate, pistachio spreads, hazelnut spreads and related products.
- Conduct regular customer visits, presentations and product demonstrations.
- Monitor competitor activity, market trends and pricing information and provide feedback to management.
- Work closely with technical and product specialists to support customer requirements.
- Attend industry trade shows, exhibitions and customer events.
- Prepare sales forecasts, reports and account plans.
- Travel throughout Australia and internationally as required for training and business activities.Skills & Experience Required
To be considered for this position, applicants should demonstrate:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus at least one year of relevant work experience or at least five years of relevant work experience.
- Previous experience in business development, sales or account acquisition within the food, ingredient, hospitality, bakery, gelato, dairy or food manufacturing sectors.
- Knowledge of the gelato, ice cream or food ingredients market.
- Proven experience generating new business and achieving sales targets.
- Experience selling products into business-to-business (B2B) markets.
- Strong commercial negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to analyse market information and identify commercial opportunities.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to learn technical product information and communicate product benefits effectively.
- Willingness to undertake interstate and international travel as required.
Desirable
- Experience working within the gelato industry.
- Experience selling food ingredients or related food products.
- Exposure to bakery, hospitality or food manufacturing customers.
- Italian language skills are advantageous but not essential.
