About the Role
As Deli Manager, you will take ownership of all aspects of the department, ensuring outstanding customer service, strong commercial performance, and compliance with food safety standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing deli team
- Manage rosters, staffing levels, and daily operations
- Drive team engagement, accountability, and performance
- Recruit, train, and onboard new team members
Department Operations
- Manage stock ordering and inventory control
- Ensure product quality, freshness, and availability
- Maintain exceptional department presentation and merchandising
- Control waste and maximise profitability
- Achieve sales, margin, and operational targets
Customer Experience
- Deliver outstanding customer service every day
- Create an engaging and welcoming shopping experience
- Build strong relationships with regular customers
- Promote products and drive department sales growth
Food Safety & Compliance
- Maintain HACCP and food safety standards
- Ensure workplace health and safety compliance
- Uphold cleanliness and hygiene standards
- Conduct regular quality and compliance checks
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
✔ Previous Deli Management, Fresh Foods, or Supermarket Leadership experience
✔ Strong team leadership and coaching skills
✔ Experience with stock ordering and inventory management
✔ Sound understanding of HACCP and food safety requirements
✔ Experience managing labour costs, sales, and department KPIs
✔ Excellent communication and customer service skills
✔ Strong organisational and time-management abilities
