About the Role:
We are currently looking for a friendly and community-minded Shop Assistant to provide high-quality retail and distribution support as part of our HopeStreet team.
In this role, you'll help ensure people experiencing disadvantage and distress have access to food support and emergency relief services in a welcoming, respectful environment. From assisting with stock management and distribution to creating a positive experience for every person who walks through our doors, you'll play an important part in helping our community access practical support when they need it most.
Working as part of our Community Services team, you'll contribute to creating trusted places where people gather, community is strengthened, and lives are transformed.
About You:
You're someone who enjoys helping others and creating a welcoming environment for everyone. You bring experience in retail, customer service, warehousing, or community support, along with a practical, hands-on approach to your work. You're organised, reliable, and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team.
Most importantly, you treat every person with dignity, respect, and compassion. You're comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds, take pride in delivering excellent service, and are committed to supporting people experiencing disadvantage through practical, everyday assistance.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience working in a charitable retail, community, or not-for-profit environment.
- Experience working with people experiencing homelessness, financial disadvantage and with complex needs
- Well-developed administrative skills, including accurate record keeping, cash handling, and the use of computer systems
Essential Competencies:
- Retail experience with some stock control and merchandising skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with customers, volunteers, and colleagues
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively, supporting and guiding volunteers while contributing to a positive team culture
