What you'll be doing
As an Operations Assistant, you will provide essential support to health professionals in the delivery of patient care within the Operating Suite, Recovery and High Dependency Unit. You will help maintain a safe, efficient and patient-focused environment while ensuring equipment, resources and patient transfers are managed effectively.
Assist with the safe transfer, transport and positioning of patients throughout the Operating Suite and High Dependency Unit
Deliver compassionate, person-centred support to patients who may be physically, mentally or emotionally distressed
Prepare, clean and maintain operating rooms, equipment and surgical instrumentation to support clinical procedures
Set up and manage patient positioning equipment for upcoming surgical procedures
Operate industrial equipment and cleaning chemicals safely while maintaining high standards of infection prevention and workplace safety
Applications are sought for the role of Operations Assistants, for Westmead Operating Suites, a tertiary referral trauma centre with 24 operating rooms. The position is responsible for patient transport before and after procedures and positioning for surgery and includes ensuring operating tables and positioning devices are cleaned, maintained and applied using appropriate manual handling techniques, to support elective and emergency surgery. As well as collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to provide safe patient care.

Ability to demonstrate experience in patient transportation and positioning within an Operating Suite and ability to adapt to the demands of a Perioperative environment.
Sound knowledge of Operating Suite equipment and maintenance.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety and Manual handling principles and requirements.
Proven ability to communicate with a variety of patients, staff, and managers.
Demonstrated experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
