A 2-stage PET machine operator manages the equipment that reheats pre-made plastic preforms and blow-molds them into finished bottles. The job entails operating line controls, monitoring heating temperatures, performing basic maintenance, and inspecting the bottles for defects to ensure continuous, high-speed production
Core Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Set up, start, and shut down 2-stage blow molding equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Process Control: Adjust settings (such as oven temperature, blowing pressure, and stretch speed) to ensure bottles meet specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct hourly visual and physical quality checks for defects like inconsistent wall thickness, leaks, or visual flaws.
- Preventative Maintenance: Clean, lubricate, and inspect machine parts. Assist the maintenance team with mold changes and troubleshooting line issues.
- Inventory Management: Monitor the preform dumper/feeder to ensure a continuous supply of materials.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean work area and strictly adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and workplace safety standards.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 1–3 years in a plastics manufacturing or industrial packaging environment (blow molding experience strongly preferred).
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) / control panels, automated machinery, and basic mechanical/pneumatic troubleshooting.
- Certifications: Often requires or prefers a current Forklift Licence and training in HACCP/GMP.
- Physical & Soft Skills: Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long shifts, perform repetitive tasks, and communicate effectively with supervisors and maintenance.
Pay: $30.00 – $45.00 per hour
