Our paediatric specialist practice in Coorparoo (Brisbane) is searching for a forward-thinking dental assistant/receptionist who will enhance our dental team in delivering top quality care to our patients. We aim to provide exceptional care in a fun and down to earth, professional, yet practical environment. The patients we welcome range from new-born to late teens and the care we provide includes early childhood caries, developmental anomalies, special needs, anxiety concerns, emergency trauma, complex medical histories, and paediatric oral surgery.
Applicants for this role need to be professional, passionate, and caring, about both their job and the patients we treat. It is preferred that you hold a Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting (but not necessary), be self-motivated, and have recent clinical experience and be up to date with infection control standards. However, if you are wanting to complete a Certificate III in Dental Assisting or are currently completing a Certificate III in Dental Assisting we also highly recommend applying! You must be comfortable and experienced in working with children of all ages and abilities, be well presented, have a warm, welcoming nature, fluent in English and be able to communicate well with patients, colleagues, and other health professionals.
We encourage our staff to work as a team to ensure that our practice runs effectively and efficiently. In addition to chair side assisting duties, you will be required to be able to attend to front desk duties, including answering the phones, making appointments, assisting with general inquiries, general administration duties and processing payments.
We also operate regularly for treatment under General Anaesthesia at St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital and Herston Private Hospital. Applicants who obtain a Certificate must be able to obtain accreditation with each Hospital and be willing to provide dental assisting duties in theatre when required.
Applicants must have the availability to work shifts between Monday to Friday, with the possibility of having set days in place if necessary (University, another job etc). This is starting as a casual position with hours ranging from 15 - 22.5 per week.
Requirements
- Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting completed, currently completing or wanting to complete is recommended. Experience as a Dental Assistant is recommended.
- Hold a current Blue Card or be eligible to obtain a Paid Blue Card.
- Must be ability to successfully complete a criminal history/police check.
- Be able to provide up to date vaccinations and willing to obtain any necessary vaccinations required when working with children.
- Current First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain before commencing employment.
- Flexible availability to work within our practice needs (Monday - Friday, between hours of 8AM to 5:30PM).
- Knowledge of infection control standards.
- Ability to work as a part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure a high standard of care is delivered to all patients.
- Must be willing to learn all duties associated with the role including light reception duties, sterilisation and chair side assisting in both the clinic and hospital.
