About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Drill and Blast Engineer, this role is responsible for driving continuous improvement in drill and blast performance across the operation. Working closely with production, technical and contractor teams, you will provide specialist technical support, optimise blasting outcomes, and contribute to the safe, efficient and environmentally responsible delivery of mining activities.
Based on-site in Greenbushes, this position is offered on a 4/3 roster and includes the option for Drive-in, Drive-out (DIDO) candidates to reside at our newly established camp. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high performing team and play a key role in enhancing drill and blast performance at one of the world's largest lithium operations.
Responsibilities include:
Leading the drive of drill and blast improvement initiatives to optimise operational performance
Monitoring and analysing drill and blast performance and production data
Supporting blast design, bench planning and execution activities
Managing contractor performance and maintaining key stakeholder relationships
Incorporating environmental and geotechnical considerations into drill and blast planning
Assisting with regulatory approvals and compliance requirements
Providing technical support across drill and blast operations as required
About the Candidate:
Minimum 5 years' experience in a Drill and Blast Engineering role, with a strong understanding of open pit mining operations and drill and blast practices
Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or significant equivalent industry experience
Experience in mine planning, blast design and mining software applications, including Surpac and ShotPlus
Strong analytical, problem-solving and reporting capabilities
Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across operational and technical teams
Knowledge of mining, explosives and safety legislation, standards and industry best practice
