Tasks &responsibilities
1. Interpret dentists’ prescriptions, treatment plans, dental impressions, intraoral scans and
related clinical records to determine the technical specifications required for dental
restorations and appliances.
2. Design, fabricate and finish customised dental restorations, including crowns, bridges, inlays,
onlays and other fixed prosthetic devices, in accordance with the prescribing dentist’s
instructions.
3. Manufacture aesthetically accurate porcelain veneers and other cosmetic dental restorations
by selecting, layering, contouring, staining and glazing suitable dental materials to reproduce
the required tooth shape, shade and translucency.
4. Construct implant-supported crowns, bridges, provisional restorations and related prosthetic
components, ensuring compatibility with the nominated implant system and accuracy of fit to
the supplied models or digital records.
5. Fabricate full and partial dentures by preparing working models, setting artificial teeth,
processing acrylic materials and completing the finishing and polishing stages required to
produce functional dental prostheses.
6. Produce removable dental and orthodontic appliances, including retainers, aligner-related
appliances, mouthguards, occlusal splints, night guards and teeth-whitening trays, according
to the specifications provided by the treating dentist.
7. Create and modify physical and digital dental models from impressions or intraoral scan files,
using appropriate laboratory equipment, dental design software and computer-aided design
and manufacturing processes where required.
8. Assess completed restorations and appliances for fit, occlusion, contact points, articulation,
shade, anatomical form and surface finish, and perform technical adjustments before
submitting the work for the dentist’s final clinical assessment.
9. Repair, reline, rebase and modify dentures and other dental appliances, including replacing
damaged components and undertaking adjustments requested by the treating dentist.
10. Maintain accurate laboratory records, manage dental materials and case workflows, and
clean, disinfect and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment in accordance with
workplace procedures, infection-control requirements, manufacturer specifications and
applicable health and safety standards.
Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
