About the role
As a Principal Finance Business Partner, you will lead a high-performing team and provide trusted strategic financial advice to senior executives and business leaders across the Ministry of Health. Working at the centre of decision-making, you will build strong partnerships, influence key financial and funding decisions, and translate complex financial information into clear insights that support government priorities and health system outcomes. Reporting to the Director Finance Strategy, you will play a critical role in budget strategy, policy evaluation, business case assessment and organisational performance, while fostering collaboration across the Ministry, NSW Health entities and NSW Treasury.

Crown Clerk 11/12, starting salary from $149,739 up to $173,174 p.a. plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35 hour work wee, work location - 1 Reserve Road, St Leonards.
What you'll be doing
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior executives, directors and key stakeholders, providing strategic financial advice that supports business objectives and informed decision-making.
- Partner with Ministry branches to deliver budgeting, forecasting, funding strategies, business case evaluations and financial performance insights aligned to government and organisational priorities.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a customer-focused culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement and high performance.
- Influence and negotiate with diverse stakeholders across NSW Health and NSW Treasury to drive financial initiatives, improve processes and achieve strategic outcomes.
- Analyse complex financial, policy and funding issues, translating technical information into clear recommendations and practical solutions for executive audiences.
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- An accomplished finance business partner with demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders and building productive relationships across a complex organisation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage, challenge and advise executives with credibility and confidence.
- Extensive experience delivering strategic financial analysis, budget management, forecasting and business performance insights.
- A collaborative leader who can bring people together, navigate competing priorities and drive outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- CPA or CA qualified, with strong knowledge of public sector financial management, governance and accountability frameworks.
