About the Role
As an Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper, you will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our finance department. Reporting to the Financial Accountant, you will work closely with the wider finance team, suppliers and our venues to ensure financial transactions are processed accurately and on time. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems and maintaining accurate financial records.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and verify a high volume of supplier invoices with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Perform supplier account and bank reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure transactions are correctly recorded in the accounting system.
- Assist with day-to-day Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
- Assist the finance team with end-to-end accounting and finance operations.
- Communicate with suppliers, customers, venues and internal stakeholders regarding invoices, payments and account queries.
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial closing processes.
- Assist with maintaining supplier and financial records.
- Provide general administrative and finance support as required.
What We are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is reliable, organised, commercially minded and eager to learn, with a genuine interest in developing their accounting career.
Desirable Criteria
- Degree or relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field, or currently working towards one.
- Previous experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bookkeeping or a similar accounting role.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and strong general computer literacy.
- Experience with Xero is highly regarded.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence communicating with suppliers, venues and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team environment.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and take ownership of tasks.
