D & J Estate Pty Ltd is an established South Australian agricultural operations services business providing contracted vineyard, horticultural and agricultural services to commercial growers and agricultural enterprises across South Australia.
Since 2015, D & J Estate has undertaken agricultural operations under commercial service agreements with its clients, including vineyard and orchard maintenance, pruning, canopy management, crop cultivation and maintenance, harvesting and related production services.
D & J Estate plans, coordinates, supervises and delivers these services through its own management and supervisory structure and directly employed workforce.

The Role
D & J Estate is seeking an Agricultural Consultant to provide specialist agricultural advice, technical analysis and evidence-based recommendations to improve the productivity, efficiency and sustainability of vineyard, horticultural and agricultural operations across multiple contracted work sites throughout South Australia.
Reporting to the Vineyard Manager (Operations), the Agricultural Consultant will provide technical advice and recommendations on crop production, vineyard management, soil health, irrigation, pest and disease management, production planning and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist advice on crop production, vineyard management, soil health, irrigation systems, and pest and disease control.
- Analyse production data and environmental factors to identify opportunities to improve yield, quality and operational efficiency.
- Develop and recommend best-practice farming and vineyard management strategies.
- Conduct research and evaluate agricultural practices, technologies and environmental conditions to support evidence-based recommendations.
- Provide technical advice to assist management with seasonal agricultural, horticultural and viticultural planning.
- Provide technical input into planting, pruning, harvesting and packing programs.
- Provide recommendations regarding crop management practices, production planning and operational requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to Horticultural Supervisors or Specialists and Vineyard Supervisors and assist with training workers in improved agricultural techniques and safe work practices.
- Evaluate agricultural technologies, machinery, equipment and production systems and recommend improvements.
- Support safe operating procedures and compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, industry standards, contractual service requirements and internal operational procedures.
- Liaise with farmers and vineyard operators regarding production goals and site-specific requirements.
- Prepare reports on crop performance, operational efficiency and recommended improvements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across D & J Estate's agricultural operations.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate should have:
- A relevant qualification in Agriculture, Horticulture, Viticulture, Agronomy or a related discipline consistent with the requirements applicable to the occupation.
- Relevant experience in agriculture, horticulture, viticulture, agronomy or agricultural advisory services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of crop production systems and vineyard management practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to provide independent technical advice and prepare professional reports.
- Effective communication skills for engaging with management, supervisors, workers and agricultural clients.
- Sound understanding of Australian workplace health and safety requirements.
- Experience working across multiple sites or within large-scale agricultural environments is highly desirable.
- Ability and willingness to travel to and work across multiple operational sites throughout South Australia.
- A current valid Australian driver's licence is required due to regular travel between operational sites.
Employment Conditions
- Permanent full-time employment with D & J Estate Pty Ltd.
- Salary: AUD $80,000–$90,000 per annum plus statutory superannuation.
- Employment entitlements provided in accordance with applicable Australian workplace laws and the National Employment Standards.
- The position requires travel to and work across multiple contracted vineyard, horticultural and agricultural sites throughout South Australia.
