About the role
We are looking for a Specialist Resource Modelling Geologist to join our Resource Development team based in Brisbane. In this role, you will contribute to the planning, execution and delivery of bauxite resource evaluation programmes that support safe, sustainable and value-driven mining operations.
Working closely with technical, operational and project stakeholders, you will develop geological and resource models, identify resource growth opportunities, support drilling programmes and help improve our understanding of lateritic bauxite orebodies. Your work will play a critical role in informing resource estimation, mine planning and investment decisions.
What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Manager Production Planning, you will:
Generate geological and resource models that support resource estimation and strategic decision-making
Identify and develop resource growth opportunities through target generation and evaluation activities
Partner with operational, technical and project stakeholders to prioritise drilling and evaluation programmes
Contribute to the planning, coordination and delivery and QAQC of resource drilling and evaluation projects
Improve geological data collection, processing and modelling practices to enhance outcomes
Ensure geological information is accurately collected, validated and integrated into resource models
Support technical due diligence and the evaluation of new resource opportunities
Champion continuous improvement initiatives and best-practice approaches to bauxite orebody knowledge
About you
You are a collaborative geoscience professional who combines strong technical capability with a passion for problem-solving and continuous improvement.
To be successful in this role, you will have the possess the following:
Tertiary qualification in Geology, Geoscience or a related discipline
Experience in geological modelling, resource evaluation and resource estimation, ideally within bauxite, lateritic ore systems or bulk commodity environments
Strong understanding of orebody interpretation, geological data management, QAQC practices, resource modelling principles and drilling/evaluation programmes
Proficiency with relevant geological modelling, resource estimation and data management software, such as acQuire, Vulcan, Datamine, Surpac or Leapfrog
Exposure to resource growth, target generation, exploration evaluation, technical studies, due diligence or project evaluation activities
Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving and stakeholder influencing skills
