We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team and contribute to the delivery of accurate, timely and meaningful financial reporting.
About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, supporting month-end and year-end processes, assisting with financial reporting and compliance obligations, and contributing to budgeting and forecasting activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is looking to further develop their technical accounting skills within the healthcare sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and banking reconciliations.
- Process general ledger journals and assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Assist with BAS preparation, statutory reporting and audit requirements.
- Maintain fixed asset registers across the group.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Assist with healthcare-related reporting requirements, including NH3 and Monthly Operating Reports.
- Provide support across Finance, including Accounts Payable, Payroll and invoicing activities when required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the delivery of high-quality financial services.
About You
Essential
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a financial accounting role.
- CA or CPA qualified, or currently working towards completion.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of Australian Accounting Standards.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Desirable
- Experience within aged care, healthcare or a related industry.
- Experience working with large and complex business environments.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365
