Sydney Local Health District is seeking a highly motivated Provisional Fellow in Neuroimmunology/ Neurology to join the Department at Concord Hospital
What you will be doing:
This position is open to experienced Neurology trainees. The position will include some inpatient responsibilities, but these will be limited and deliberately distinct from the responsibilities of our existing two neurology core trainees.
As a Provisional Fellow you will practice under the supervision and direction of Specialist Neurologists to assess and medically manage patients with a wide variety of neurological disorders in an inpatient and outpatient setting. You will participate in a 1:4 on call roster and act as first on call for the Emergency Department and after hours calls.
The focus of this position is to provide the motivated candidate with a range of different clinical and/or research experiences to complement previous training. Previous Fellows have taken advantage of the Neuroimmunology service, a traditional departmental strength, to acquire clinical and research experience in the management of MS, other central nervous system immunological disorders, and peripheral neuroimmunological disorders (eg MG, CIDP). As such, this position is suited to an individual seeking a Neuroimmunology Fellowship.
Other options include a focus on the assessment and management of Parkinson’s disease and development of skills in the use of Botulinum toxin therapy.
In addition, there is scope to develop skills in clinical neurophysiology including nerve conduction studies, electromyography, and evoked potentials. Level 2 accreditation is possible during this Fellowship.
The specific objectives of this clinical training position are to enable you to:
- Complete a dedicated Neuroimmunology Fellowship, or
- Develop your own Fellowship program focusing on establishing experience and expertise in the areas of clinical neurology and clinical neurophysiology most important to you
- Complete a research project of your choice during the year.
The position is full time 38 hours per week with additional on call commitment.
