Buon Appetit is a busy, family-owned Italian restaurant in the heart of Camden, specialising in handmade Italian food, traditional Napoletana-style wood-fired pizza and genuine hospitality.
We have grown from a family-run food truck into one of the area's busiest hospitality venues, and we are now looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager to join our leadership team.
This is a hands-on management role suited to someone who is confident running busy services, leading a large team and maintaining consistently high standards across the restaurant.
About the Role
As Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the front-of-house team and ensuring every service runs professionally, efficiently and smoothly.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing busy lunch and dinner services
- Leading, supervising and motivating the front-of-house team
- Allocating sections and coordinating staff during service
- Managing bookings, table flow and customer experience
- Handling customer enquiries, complaints and service recovery professionally
- Training and developing floor and bar staff
- Assisting with recruitment, onboarding and staff performance
- Preparing and managing staff rosters
- Monitoring labour costs and staffing levels
- Ensuring opening and closing procedures are completed correctly
- Maintaining high standards of presentation, cleanliness and organisation
- Overseeing cash handling, POS procedures and end-of-day reconciliation
- Ensuring RSA requirements and venue policies are followed
- Working closely with kitchen management to coordinate service
- Managing stock, ordering and operational requirements where necessary
- Maintaining and improving restaurant systems and procedures
- Leading by example and creating a professional, productive workplace culture
About You
We are looking for an experienced hospitality manager, not someone looking to move into their first management position.
The successful applicant should have:
- Previous experience managing a busy restaurant or hospitality venue
- Strong restaurant floor and service knowledge
- Confidence managing high-volume services
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- The ability to remain calm and organised under pressure
- Experience managing rosters and labour
- Strong understanding of restaurant operations and service standards
- Good knowledge of POS systems and cash handling
- Current NSW RSA
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent reliability and punctuality
- Availability to work nights and weekends
Experience within high-volume restaurants, Italian restaurants or busy full-service venues will be highly regarded.
What We're Looking For in a Manager
We want someone who takes ownership of the restaurant while they are on shift.
You should be comfortable making decisions, solving problems, directing staff and holding the team accountable to expected standards.
At the same time, we want a manager who knows how to train, support and develop staff, rather than simply giving orders.
You will be expected to work closely with ownership and kitchen management to continually improve the operation of the restaurant.

Buon Appetit started as a family-run Italian food truck before growing into our permanent restaurant in Camden.
We are a fast-paced venue with a strong local following and busy weekend trade. Our focus is on quality food, genuine hospitality, consistency and creating an experience that keeps customers coming back.
We operate Wednesday to Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday closed.
