A little about the role
We are looking for a proactive and passionate Social Worker to join the Key Assets West Australian Kununurra Team in the wonderful East Kimberley. In this rewarding role, you will be part of a collaborative and integrated team, working together to create positive and lasting outcomes for children and young people. With regular face-to-face visits and telephone calls, you will play a pivotal role in providing safe, nurturing, and high-quality care within a family setting.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Providing regular support via telephone and supervisory visits to foster carers including occasional unannounced visits.
- Monitoring and reviewing the suitability and competence of foster carers, ensuring they provide a safe, healthy, nurturing, and learning environment for children/young people.
- Ensuring that the protection of children and the promotion of their welfare is given absolute priority in all activities and that critical incidents/allegations are recorded, investigated and acted upon appropriately.
- You will work in partnership in a key care team approach to help identify any needs within the foster family e.g respite, activities, therapy, holidays, with all members of the child’s network, including contribution to all relevant meeting
The base salary for this position is $88,090.08 - $94,788.72 /annum (based on 1.0FTE) + super + vehicle or vehicle allowance + fuel card + salary packaging options up to $15,900 per annum. Remote and relocation allowances to be discussed. This position is a full-time permanent role.
About you
You will have substantial experience in a similar Social Worker role within the social and community services sector with evidence of a proven track record in working with and or on behalf of children, respecting and maintaining their individuality and promoting their positive development.
- Must hold a recognised Social Work Qualification
- You will have a sound knowledge of child protection procedures and the Code of Conduct for Foster Carers
- Current knowledge of relevant legislation arising from the various Child Protection Legislation and Government initiatives and Agendas across Western Australia.
- You will have the ability to communicate simply and effectively - both verbal and written.
