Join Mackay Regional Council as a Finance Officer and help keep our financial records accurate, up to date, and well managed. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, supporting internal teams, and contributing to strong financial outcomes.
About this opportunity:
In this role, you will support the finance team with a range of day-to-day and month-end financial tasks that help maintain the accuracy and integrity of Council’s records.
- Process journals and complete general financial data entry.
- Monitor income and expenditure against the general ledger.
- Follow up with internal stakeholders to confirm correct job numbers and coding.
- Manage invoicing for MECC shows and other allocated activities.
- Update financial charts and records in line with approved changes.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
This role would suit someone with qualifications in Business, Finance, Commerce or Accounting, or someone currently studying in one of these areas. Qualifications that support eligibility for CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants ANZ membership will be highly regarded.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience in a bookkeeping, finance administration, or management accounting environment.
- Experience supporting budgeting, project costing, journal processing, or maintaining financial data.
- Experience using accounting or finance systems and keeping financial records accurate and up to date.
You will be organised, detail-focused, and comfortable working with numbers. Strong analytical skills, time management, and a proactive approach will help you succeed in this role.
