What You’ll Do
- Develop and organize menus, forecast ingredient needs, and manage both food and labour budgets.
- Ensure the consistent quality of dishes throughout preparation, cooking, and presentation.
- Communicate with management, dietitians, and kitchen and service staff regarding food preparation requirements and any operational issues.
- Demonstrate cooking methods and provide guidance to kitchen staff on proper techniques and procedures.
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with recipes and quality standards.
- Implement and maintain hygiene, food safety, and sanitation practices within the kitchen.
- Participate in the recruitment, selection, and training of kitchen staff where required.
- Preserve, store, or freeze ingredients and prepared food as needed to maintain quality and reduce waste.
- Manage kitchen operations to maintain smooth workflow and timely delivery of meals.
Qualifications & Experience
- AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma in Culinary Arts or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in a commercial kitchen or food service environment.
- Solid knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen operations.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and time management abilities.
- Creative mindset with a genuine passion for cooking.
