The Finance Department at Holmesglen plays a critical role in managing the Institute’s financial operations, including payroll, accounts and financial accounting. The team ensures all financial transactions are processed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with relevant regulations and internal procedures, supporting the delivery of high-quality education and services.
The Senior Payroll Officer holds a vital position within the payroll function, contributing to the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll payments. This role works closely with the Payroll Manager to ensure all payroll deadlines are met and compliance with legislative requirements is maintained.
As a Senior Payroll Officer, you will:

Ensure the accurate processing and payment of salaries for all staff, complying with industrial awards, EBAs, and legislative requirements.

Support the Payroll Manager to meet strict fortnightly payroll deadlines and resolve discrepancies.

Prepare detailed and accurate payroll reports and spreadsheets for review by management.

Manage the preparation, verification, and processing of staff reimbursements and travel expense claims.

Liaise with People Experience and other departments to coordinate payroll-related information (new starters, terminations, salary and leave adjustments).
To be successful, you’ll have:

Prior experience in a senior payroll role in a large organisation, with a strong understanding of payroll processes and procedures.

Experience interpreting and applying complex EBAs to ensure accurate staff payments.

Experience using TechOne or ADP payroll systems, combined with strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.

Diploma in a related field (e.g., Business, Accounting, Finance) is mandatory; a Bachelor’s degree is desirable.

Commitment to operating ethically within the public sector and aligning with organisational values and standards.

WWCC and Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Victorian ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
