About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our estimating and project management team in Level1 62 South st Rydalmere NSW 2116. The role is responsible for calculating expected costs for upcoming construction projects, preparing accurate tender submissions, developing relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, and providing detailed cost analyses to meet project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze architectural plans, construction drawings, and technical specifications to determine the scope of work and required resources. Prepare accurate and detailed estimates for material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs for various construction projects. Research and compile lists of potential subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes and pricing. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction materials, market rates, labor costs, and industry trends to ensure accurate pricing. Visit construction sites and prospective client locations to assess site conditions, identify potential challenges, and develop accurate cost projections. Assess project requirements and provide professional advice on value engineering and alternative materials that best meet operational and budget requirements. Promote the company’s capabilities and present cost estimates and tender proposals to existing and potential clients through meetings and presentations. Prepare a comprehensive bill of quantities, tender documents, and cost summaries based on client and project requirements. Negotiate prices, payment terms, and contractual conditions with subcontractors and suppliers to achieve successful and profitable outcomes. Complete final estimating documentation, process tender submissions, and maintain accurate cost records and databases. Coordinate with the project management team during the handover phase to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project execution. Follow up with clients post-tender submission, answer any technical or pricing queries, and provide updates to management regarding tender success rates and market conditions.
Qualifications and Experience
Relevant qualification in Construction Management or a related field. Previous experience in construction estimating, cost planning, or quantity surveying is preferred. Knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and material specifications. Experience in stakeholder management, procurement negotiation, and contract administration. Strong understanding of commercial construction requirements and cost-control approaches.
Skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to explain technical construction and cost concepts clearly to business clients. Strong analytical and mathematical skills. Ability to identify project risks and recommend suitable cost mitigations. Good organisational skills with attention to detail and accurate record keeping. Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software (e.g., CostX, Buildsoft) and MS Excel. Ability to work independently and meet strict tender deadlines.
Pay: $100,000.00 per year
