The role of the Assistant Management Accountant is to support the delivery of a responsive, flexible, and cost-effective service that is reflective of the organisation’s vision, mission, values and strategic direction. This role is responsible for managing organisational funding and expenditure. This includes working with the Finance team to input and track accounts payable and receivable, account reconciliations, assisting with preparation of financial information for annual audit, and other duties as listed below.

About the Role
As an Assistant Management Accountant, under the guidance of your Direct Leader, your duties will include:

Preparation of finance month end functions and reconciliation of general ledger accounts

Back up as required for Finance team members
-
Processing of NDIS claims to ensure prompt payment for services

Implementation of all service agreements and schedule of supports as directed by the systems Accountant
-
Processing of month end journals as directed
-
Back up as required in relation to accounts payable including data entry into finance software, cheque and EFTPOS processing and petty cash

Ensuring all payments are processed according to current policy and procedures and relevant finance standards and funding body requirements

Updating and maintaining all relevant accounting records

Ensuring confidentiality of all accounting, payroll and employee records

Backup as required to ensure finance software and associated records are accurately maintained

Assisting with end of financial year requirements ready for audit

Ensuring assets are correctly recorded in register and correct depreciation is processed

Ensuring any matters of concern are escalated appropriately.
Key Selection Criteria
-
Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or working towards) or equivalent experience
-
Proven ability to produce work with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness and to research and analyse problems and provide effective solutions
-
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, exercising initiative and sound judgement to manage workload and achieve outcomes, while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
- Excellent skills and experience in using Excel and other Microsoft Office computer packages

Demonstrated experience with general ledger reconciliations

Ability to learn and understand GST as it applies to charitable organisations

Excellent data entry skills with accuracy and attention to detail
-
Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to customer focused service

Excellent communication skills, written and oral, use of initiative and problem-solving skills

You will also hold a valid Working with Children Check and NDIS worker screening check (or the ability to obtain these) and a current Driver's License.
