Primary objective
Provide high level proactive and timely advice on Emergency Management and Work Health Safety (WHS) matters, including ensuring
compliance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines for the East Arnhem Regional Health Service (EARHS).
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate the emergency management and work health safety system (implementation, monitoring and review) to ensure
emergency management requirements align to the relevant legislation and/or policies across EARHS.
2. Provide the appropriate guidance and support to managers and staff on all work health safety matters that ensures compliance while
promoting strategies to improve work health safety performance and outcomes.
3. Support regional Emergency Management (EM) and Work Health and Safety (WHS) systems to operate effectively, ensuring
compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures. This includes enabling contemporary practices, regular review, and
continuous improvement.
4. Coordinate with relevant East Arnhem Regional Health Service (EARHS) managers to establish and maintain work unit business
continuity plans.
5. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to enhance emergency management
and WHS outcomes.
6. Develop, review and implement identified regional emergency management plans.
7. Develop and deliver training in Emergency Management and Aggression Management in line with NT Health procedures and
guidelines
8. Take an active and supportive role during emergency events through inter-agency coordination, provision of advice, ensuring clear
and effective communication flows, maintaining situational awareness, monitoring WebEOC, and documenting key decisions.
9. Follow defined service quality standards, WHS policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high
quality, safe services and workplaces.
10. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated recent senior level experience in the coordination of emergency management and work health safety systems.
2. Excellent interpersonal communication and coordination skills with the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
3. Proven ability to independently draft, review and finalise plans/policies/procedures or other documents to a high standard.
4. Demonstrated ability to deliver training in WHS, Emergency Management and Business Continuity as a subject matter expert.
5. Proven ability to think autonomously and seek alternative options; to recommend, implement and promote appropriate solutions.
6. Actively support and lead organisational change by engaging relevant stakeholders, communicating with transparency and honesty.
7. Shows initiative and adapts quickly to changes in priorities, responsibilities and the work environment.
Desirable
1. Formal Qualification in Emergency Management and/or WHS.
2. Formal Qualifications in Training and Assessment
