We are seeking a confident, reliable and experienced Male Disability Support Worker to support two male participants living in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Yokine.
Both participants have psychosocial disabilities and complex mental health support needs. This role would suit someone who is confident working within mental health, can maintain strong professional boundaries and remains calm and effective when participants become heightened or escalate.
Hours
Monday to Friday – 9:00am to 1:00pm
We are ideally looking for someone who can commit consistently to these weekday hours.
There are also opportunities to complete sleep shifts from 10:00pm to 7:00am when required.
What the role involves
- Providing psychosocial and mental health support
- Supporting participants with daily living and independence
- Recognising changes in mental health presentation and responding appropriately
- Confidently managing periods of verbal escalation and behaviours of concern
- Using calm and effective de-escalation strategies
- Maintaining clear and consistent professional boundaries
- Following individual support plans, behaviour support strategies and organisational procedures
- Medication support
- Supporting appointments, errands and community access where required
- Completing progress notes, incident reports and other documentation
- Cleaning and domestic duties within the home
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised SIL environment
- Working independently while communicating effectively with the wider team
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience in mental health, psychosocial disability or complex support
- Is confident with de-escalation and behaviours of concern
- Is calm, assertive and able to maintain professional boundaries
- Can follow support plans, procedures and staff directions consistently
- Can work independently without requiring constant supervision
- Is proactive and can recognise what needs to be done during a shift
- Understands that cleaning and domestic duties are an expected part of SIL support
- Is reliable, punctual and consistent
- Is comfortable working within a home where participants may at times become verbally escalated
- Can commit to Monday–Friday, 9:00am–1:00pm
- Ideally has flexibility to complete 10:00pm–7:00am sleep shifts
Essential requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle
- Relevant disability and/or mental health support experience
- Ability to follow policies, procedures and participant support plans
- Ability to complete clear and accurate documentation
Experience supporting individuals with schizophrenia, complex psychosocial disability and behaviours of concern will be highly regarded.
We are looking for someone who is dependable, resilient and consistent and understands the importance of balancing person-centred support with clear boundaries, structure and accountability.
Pay: $34.44 – $40.00 per hour
