About the Opportunity
Based in Henderson, the Quality Inspector will be responsible for ensuring Austal’s products and services meet required quality and regulatory standards through inspection, auditing and quality assurance activities. Working closely with Operations and under the guidance of a lead, the role supports the delivery of business quality requirements, identifies and resolves non-conformances, and promotes consistent quality outcomes across the organisation.

What’s Involved
- Conduct quality control inspections throughout all stages of construction.
- Develop and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and related documentation.
- Coordinate and schedule inspections with internal teams, clients and classification bodies.
- Perform internal and external quality audits to ensure compliance.
- Review and audit inspection records and objective quality evidence (OQE).
- Manage non-conformance reporting and maintain quality performance records.
- Support quality investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop investigation reports and share lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
You’ll Need
- Industry-recognised inspection qualification in structural, welding, piping, pressure vessel, paint or fit-out disciplines.

Minimum 5 years' experience in production, quality inspection or quality systems.

Previous experience within a manufacturing, fabrication or industrial environment.

Knowledge of relevant industry standards and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.

Well-developed analytical, problem-solving and investigation skills.

Audit experience and the ability to manage conflict, negotiate and facilitate outcomes effectively.

Shipbuilding or marine industry experience. (Desirable)

Formal investigation or audit training. (Desirable)
