This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing, with the employment type to be determined in negotiation with the preferred candidate and the PM&C delegate.
Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for a maximum period of two (2) years. If the initial contract is for less than 2 years, it may be extended or renewed once, up to the 2 year limit.
A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment, however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.

The Professional Standards and Wellbeing team works closely with other areas across PM&C to manage the department's early intervention, rehabilitation and case management (compensation and non-compensation), underperformance, complaints and Code of Conduct and workplace health and safety. We work collaboratively to achieve rewarding outcomes and focus our attention on preventing harm at its source.
What you will do
We are looking for a suitably experienced and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about employee wellbeing, early intervention and rehabilitation case management (compensation and non-compensation) to manage a small team of rehabilitation professionals. We work collaboratively to achieve rewarding outcomes and focus our attention on preventing harm at its source.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering a leading practice in rehabilitation case management within employment and legislative frameworks;

Responding to and managing complex wellbeing matters, including preparation and submission of Comcare documentation.

Contributing to the development and implementation of tailored wellbeing initiatives, resources and strategies;

Liaising, engaging and collaborating with managers and staff at all levels, to assess and resolve health related matters;

Delivering sensitive and complex written material and presentations, including reports, briefs and policies;

Providing strategic advice to managers and Senior Executive Staff;

Managing a small team.
What you will bring

To be successful, you will also possess:
- Strong stakeholder management experience, including the ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with senior leaders;

Significant technical expertise in complex case management, including within the Comcare scheme;

The ability to provide advice, and deliver projects and activities that uphold best practice and meet the requirements of the relevant legislative frameworks;

The ability to manage teams, assurance processes, and wellbeing initiatives, including contributing to broader people initiatives;

High level written and verbal communications skills;

Sound judgement and risk management skills;

Experience in preparing employer submissions for external review/appeal proceedings;

A thorough understanding of the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988.
Identified Position
This position has limited contact with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, service providers and staff, but is still required to have the capacity and willingness to further develop these skills and knowledge. You will be required to undertake cultural awareness training that increases your:
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures and the issues affecting these cultures in Australian society today

Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and

Willingness and commitment to continue to develop and increase your cultural knowledge and understandings

Eligibility
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing. At PM&C to be eligible for this position you should be an Australian Citizen by the completion of the recruitment process, except under exceptional circumstances.

The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.

The successful candidate will be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check, and will normally be subject to a six-month probation period if new to the APS or has not yet completed their probation period elsewhere in the APS.
