JDA Collective has an exciting opportunity available for a Kitchen Hand at Headlands Hotel, Austinmer.
Headlands Hotel is a newly acquired venue within the JDA Collective group, with exciting plans for the future and plenty of opportunity ahead. As the venue continues to grow and develop, this is a great opportunity to join the team at an exciting time and be part of its next chapter.
We are looking for a highly motivated, reliable and hardworking Kitchen Hand to join our kitchen team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain further experience in a busy commercial kitchen, or for an individual who may be interested in developing a future career as a Chef.
About the role
The position will primarily involve maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen while assisting the chefs with various kitchen duties.
This is a casual position, working to a roster that will include nights, weekends and public holidays as required.
Your overall responsibility is to assist with ensuring kitchen cleanliness and the ability to assist with various kitchen duties. You may be required to assist with unpacking and organising deliveries, mopping up kitchen spills, wiping down work stations and assisting with the storage of food items.

Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Ability to work through high volumes of dishes that require washing, drying and stored correctly.
- Cleaning of equipment, floors, sections within the kitchen etc.
- Performing basic cleaning duties and ensuring that work stations are properly sanitised.
- Can start immediately.
Qualifications / Experience
- High school certificate
- Certification in Culinary Arts is advantageous
- Safe food handling certificate
- Proven commercial kitchen experience
- Awareness of manual handling techniques
- Experience with dangerous equipment (i.e. knives)
- Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations
- The ability to stand for extended periods
- The ability to work under pressure
- Excellent organisational skills
- Competent level of English spoken and written
- Basic knowledge of all sections of a kitchen
- Ability to work under supervision and independently
- Understanding of basic food hygiene practices, health and safety
- Attention to detail
- Enthusiasm to develop your own skills and knowledge
- Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes
- Ability to work unsupervised and deliver quality work
- Positive and approachable manner
- Team player qualities
- Drivers Licence preferable (able to get to work to cover shifts at short notice).
