Long established wine bar/cafe is looking for a chef to join our team. Under the guidance of our head chef, you will be a self starter, have a great eye for detail and be passionate about food. The right applicant will be rewarded commensurate with their experience. This is an opportunity to join a friendly, small team in a great location.
Remuneration: $80,000 Per Annum
Tasks & responsibilities
- planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
- Creating menu items, recipes and developing dishes ensuring variety and quality
- monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
- discussing food preparation issues with Venue Manager and kitchen and waiting staff
- demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
- preparing and cooking food
- freeze and preserve foods
- explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
- select and train staff
- oversee and monitor the work of kitchen staff to ensure all tasks are done as required
- give staff feedback on their performance to enable staff development
- ensure any staffing issues are resolved fairly and quickly
About You
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have proven culinary and managementexperience. Excellent communication skills, demonstrating leadership and organisational abilities.

- High standard of food preparation and productivity
- Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure
- Experience in budget management and cost control
- Exceptional presentation, communication, time management & attention to detail
- Ability to work a flexible rotating roster including nights/weekends
Requirements:
Qualification: AQF Diploma or higher qualification in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality Managementor a closely related field, or an equivalent overseas qualification. At least three years of relevantemployment experience may substitute for the formal qualification in accordance with ANZSCO.
Experience: At least one year of relevant full-time commercial Chef experience.
Pay: $80,000.00 per year
