JLE Group is seeking an experienced Technical Service Manager to join our Manufacturing & Hire division. Based in Newcastle, this role offers strategic leadership across HV/LV technical service operations, hire assets, and field maintenance activities.
About the role
The Technical Services Manager is responsible for leading and managing the delivery of technical service operations across HV/LV electrical systems, hire assets, and field-based maintenance activities, ensuring safe, compliant, efficient, and commercially viable service delivery while driving technician performance and supporting business growth.
Key responsibilities include:

Oversee technical service activities (maintenance, breakdowns, commissioning, installations).

Plan/schedule technicians, subcontractors, and resources to meet SLAs/deadlines.

Maintain workflow control from job initiation to close-out.

Provide technical guidance, fault finding, and diagnostics across HV/LV systems and hire equipment.

Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, electrical regulations, and company procedures.

Lead, mentor, and develop technicians/apprentices through performance reviews, training, and competency plans.

Manage workforce planning, utilization, productivity, and technician development.

Act as key client contact, provide technical solutions, and identify revenue opportunities.

Manage job costing, profitability, quoting, tendering, pricing, and financial performance.

Drive WHS compliance, safety initiatives, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.

Maintain service records, asset registers, compliance documentation, and support ISO audits.

Oversee service systems, workflows, reporting tools, and preventative maintenance programs (PPM).

What you'll bring
Essential:
-
Electrical trade qualification (HV/LV preferred).
-
Demonstrated experience in service delivery or maintenance operations.
-
Commercial acumen (job costing, margins, budgeting).
-
Knowledge of WHS and compliance requirements including Australian standards.
Desirable:
-
Well-developed management skills such as planning, organising, and evaluation.
-
Understanding and interpreting relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.
-
7–12 years' experience in the trade.
-
Contract training (GC21/AS4000).
-
OH&S training.
