Registered Behaviour Technician

As a behaviour technician, you’re responsible for the implementation of programs and behaviour intervention plans for children in their home, (pre)school and/or community settings.

Duties

Adhere to the behaviour-analytic programs and techniques as specified in each child’s program
Collect and accurately record data during programs and after problem behavior
Clean up and re-organise materials after sessions
Practise under the close supervision of a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst or Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analyst
Attend and take notes at team meetings
Provide appropriate feedback and suggestions during clinic meetings
Provide therapeutic intervention in a caring and nurturing manner and diligently follow a current Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) as written
Immediately communicate any unusual incidents or concerns regarding the child’s program to the program manager
Demonstrate workplace behaviours that align with Aspire’s values and philosophy
Other reasonable duties as directed, such as attending workshops, meeting deadlines and promptly responding to calls and emails

Essential criteria

Registered as a behaviour technician with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
- OR currently studying a Bachelor of Psychology (or other relevant qualification) and committed to undertaking the required prerequisites, training (internal and external) and competency assessments of the BACB Registered Behaviour Technician exam
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with families
Commitment to quality delivery of services
A demonstrated ability to work independently
A positive attitude and willingness to be flexible
A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to use email effectively
A current driver licence and access to a roadworthy and registered car
Current First Aid certificate
An acceptable Police Check
A valid Working with Children Check or other relevant state children’s check
Completion of the NSW Department of Education mandatory reporting module or similar requirement in other states/territories

Career progression

After passing your BACB Registered Behaviour Technician exam and demonstrating your passion and alignment with Aspire’s values, you’ll be supported to progress to a behaviour support practitioner through internal training and mentoring.

Training

As an early intervention therapist, undergraduate student (psychology, speech pathology, occupational therapy or related coursework), teacher or parent, you can become a Registered Behaviour Technician through Aspire.

As a Registered Behaviour Technician, you’re responsible for the provision of direct therapy services in the implementation of programs and behaviour intervention plans for children. This can take place at our clinic, at the child’s home or in their (pre)school setting.

Registered Behaviour Technician practise under the close, ongoing supervision of a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analyst (BCaBA).
