About the role:
As a Media Advisor, you will support the development and delivery of media strategies, responses and story opportunities that enhance public awareness of SafeWork NSW's work and priorities.
Working closely with internal stakeholders, Ministers' offices and media contacts, you'll help manage media issues, prepare communication materials and contribute to proactive media opportunities that showcase the impact of SafeWork NSW's programs, initiatives and reforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor media coverage and identify emerging issues, risks and opportunities that may impact SafeWork NSW.
- Research and prepare media releases, media responses, Q&As, briefing materials and holding statements.
- Assist in the development and delivery of media strategies and proactive story opportunities.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders, including business units, Ministers' offices and media contacts.
- Support the planning and delivery of media events, government announcements and major reform initiatives.
- Work collaboratively across communications teams to ensure integrated and consistent messaging across media and social media channels.
- Provide timely and accurate media support and advice to stakeholders.
- Contribute to media monitoring activities and the continuous improvement of media processes, systems and services.
- Participate in a 24/7 media on-call service as required.

About You:
We're looking for a motivated communications professional who can balance competing priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes in a dynamic environment.
You will bring:
- Experience in media relations, journalism, public affairs, communications or a related field.
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce accurate, clear and engaging content under tight deadlines.
- Sound understanding of media operations, news cycles and contemporary communication practices.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Sound judgement, professionalism and an ability to work effectively in sensitive and fast-moving environments.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute across a broader communications team.
