Position Summary
The Truck Driver is responsible for transporting asphalt, construction materials, and related equipment to and from civil construction and roadwork sites across Western Australia. The role involves operating specialised walking floor trailers and heavy vehicles, ensuring compliance with road transport regulations, maintaining delivery schedules, and supporting road construction operations through safe and efficient transport services.
The position requires drivers with experience in heavy vehicle operations, knowledge of transport safety procedures, and the ability to work in fast-paced infrastructure and construction environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate heavy combination trucks, including specialised walking floor trailers, for the transportation of asphalt and construction materials.
- Conduct pre-start and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety standards.
- Transport materials safely and efficiently between depots, asphalt plants, and road construction sites.
- Secure loads appropriately and ensure compliance with load restraint and transport regulations.
- Monitor vehicle performance and report mechanical faults, maintenance requirements, or safety concerns promptly.
- Follow delivery schedules, route plans, and site instructions to ensure timely project support.
- Assist with shoulder widening and road construction transport operations using specialised trailer extensions and equipment.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logbooks, fatigue management records, and transport paperwork.
- Comply with workplace health and safety procedures, fatigue management requirements, and road transport legislation.
- Coordinate effectively with site supervisors, dispatch personnel, and construction teams to support operational efficiency.
- Ensure vehicles and trailers are maintained in a clean and serviceable condition.
- Adhere to company policies, customer requirements, and traffic regulations at all times.
Skills and Experience Required
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience operating heavy vehicles in a similar environment
- Current and valid HC or MC class driver’s licence
- Sound knowledge of Australian road transport regulations and compliance requirements
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks and work in physically demanding conditions
- Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
