An opportunity is available for an experienced Cook to join the kitchen team at BMD Northcliffe Surf Club.
We are looking for a reliable and capable Cook with practical experience in a busy commercial kitchen. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across several kitchen sections, following established recipes and procedures, and maintaining quality during high-volume service periods.
Experience in wok cooking would be highly regarded.

About the Role
This is a full-time Cook position within a large and busy kitchen operation.
The successful applicant will assist with food preparation and cooking across a range of sections and service periods. The role requires good practical cooking skills, reliability, attention to detail and the ability to follow direction from senior chefs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and instructions
- Assist across kitchen sections including grill, pans, larder, breakfast, fryer and wok as required
- Complete food preparation before and during service
- Maintain consistency in portion size, presentation and taste
- Ensure food is prepared, stored and served at safe temperatures
- Monitor section stock and advise senior chefs when replenishment is required
- Rotate, label and store ingredients correctly
- Follow portion-control procedures and assist in minimising waste
- Maintain a clean and organised workstation
- Assist with kitchen setup, service and pack-down
- Operate kitchen equipment safely
- Follow food safety and workplace health and safety procedures
- Communicate effectively with other kitchen employees
- Work efficiently during busy service periods
- Assist with general kitchen cleaning duties as required
- Follow reasonable directions from chefs, supervisors and management
About You
To be considered for this position, you will ideally have:
- A relevant commercial cookery qualification or equivalent practical experience
- At least one year of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen
- Experience preparing and cooking food in a busy venue
- The ability to follow recipes, instructions and presentation standards
- Experience across more than one kitchen section
- Wok experience, which would be highly regarded
- Knowledge of food safety and safe food-handling practices
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to work efficiently under pressure
- A reliable and positive approach to work
- The ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a team
- Good attention to detail and cleanliness
- The physical capacity to stand for extended periods and complete normal kitchen duties
- Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, public holidays and school holiday periods
The successful candidate will be supported to continue developing their skills within an experienced, high-volume kitchen team.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
