About the Role
The Cost Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate construction cost estimates through detailed quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and review of project documentation. Working closely with Development, Procurement, and Construction teams, this role evaluates supplier quotations, identifies cost risks and value engineering opportunities, and supports informed project decisions. Success requires strong technical estimating skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Review consultant drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Undertake detailed quantity take-offs and prepare accurate cost estimates
- Analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs
- Maintain awareness of market trends and develop knowledge of construction methods to support precise cost estimation
- Request, review and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Monitor market pricing and industry trends to forecast construction cost escalation
- Identify potential cost and construction risks, and conduct further investigations to refine cost estimates
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization
- Maintain estimating databases, benchmarking data, and historical cost records
- Prepare estimating reports and presentations for management
- Collaborate closely with Development, Procurement, and Construction teams
About You
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Bill of Quantities (BOQ) measurement, quantity take-offs, and construction cost estimating.
- Proficient in CostX, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, measurement principles, and cost planning methodologies.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC) 2022 and NSW building regulations and design guidelines.
- Experience working on residential and mixed-use development projects.
- Experience measuring building services trades is highly regarded.
- Previous experience working for a Developer/Builder is preferred.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills with strong attention to detail
Pay: $95,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
