About the role
The Senior Occupational Therapist provides specialist occupational therapy services within the Women’s & Children’s Cocoon Clinic, Child Protection Services, supporting vulnerable infants and their families through a trauma-informed, relationship-based approach. The role delivers expert clinical assessment, intervention, consultation, and advice to the multidisciplinary team to support infant development and wellbeing. The Senior Occupational Therapist also contributes to service development, practice improvement, and the ongoing direction of the Cocoon Clinic.
Key duties of the role
Provision of expert occupational therapy services to infants up to 24 months of age and their families/carers.
Provision of consultancy services in the area of occupational therapy management.
Evaluates contemporary clinical practices and evidence-based therapy, and implements, where appropriate, new programs or methods.
Support and actively participate in a positive culture and safe work environment.
Contribute to research activities and support data collection, analysis, and reporting to improve clinical outcomes and consumer experience.
Skills and Experience
Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
Minimum 5 years’ experience providing paediatric occupational therapy services, including infant development and assessment.
Demonstrated advanced clinical skills in evidence-based occupational therapy assessment and intervention.
Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and family-centred care environments.
Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed care, infant mental health, and contemporary paediatric OT practices.
