Primary objective
Provide quality Medical Imaging Services for Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospitals as requested and contribute to
continuous service improvement.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high quality diagnostic medical imaging services, including participation in shift and on-call rosters, to ensure a
24-hour medical imaging coverage of Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospitals (RDPH), and relief at other Top End Health
Service (TEHS) hospitals as required.
2. Liaise with the multidisciplinary health care team to ascertain relevant clinical history and diagnostic objectives to ensure
the most appropriate imaging is performed.
3. Perform the required administrative duties for imaging procedures, ensuring accurate completion of necessary
documentation, and image transfer to Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
4. Adhere to the ALARA principle and RDPH radiation safety protection plan.
5. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
6. Undergo regular self-evaluation and performance appraisal in pursuit of continuing quality improvement.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Degree in Medical Radiation Science or equivalent from a registered University which allows registration with Australian
Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
2. Ability to participate in a 24-hour shift roster.
3. Entry level experience in the various fields of radiography; general radiography, theatre and mobile imaging, emergency
radiography.
4. Ability to work as a member of a team and to communicate clearly with colleagues and other health service staff.
5. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with patients from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.

This position is suitable for both graduates and experienced radiographers.
