The Public Sector Commission (PSC) is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join us as Director, Strategic and Workforce Policy. This is a unique opportunity to lead the development and implementation of workforce policy, legislative and integrity frameworks that underpin employment across Queensland's public sector. Working closely with senior leaders, government agencies and stakeholders, you will influence system-wide policy and legislative reform that supports workforce capability, integrity and public sector performance.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Strategic Policy and Corporate Services, you will lead a small, high-performing team responsible for strategic workforce policy, legislation, reform and advisory functions. You will provide authoritative advice on complex workforce, governance, integrity and employment matters while helping shape the future direction of Queensland's public sector employment framework.
What you'll be doing
In this role, you will:
Lead strategic workforce policy and legislative reform initiatives that support government priorities and public sector outcomes.
Lead the development, implementation and review of employment legislation, directives, workforce policy frameworks and supporting resources.
Provide high-level policy, legislative and workforce advice to senior executives, the Commissioner and Government.
Build and maintain productive relationships with agencies, HR practitioners, unions, integrity bodies, central agencies and other key stakeholders.
Lead consultation and engagement activities to support successful policy and workforce reform outcomes.
Develop and lead a capable, collaborative and high-performing team.
What we're looking for
We recognise there is more than one pathway to success in this role. You may bring significant experience leading complex strategic policy or legislative reform initiatives, including Cabinet, Parliamentary or Government processes. Alternatively, you may have extensive experience in human resources, industrial relations, employment law or workforce policy, with a strong understanding of public sector employment frameworks and their practical application.
