Primary objective
Lead risk-based audits and investigations on NTG Conditions of Contract and legislative requirements for construction
projects, with a primary focus on Quality Management, Aboriginal Engagement, local benefit commitment and Work Health
and Safety (WHS). Provide authoritative advice and coordinate compliance activities and resources to support consistent,
defensible and risk-based outcomes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead risk-based audits and investigations of contractor compliance on construction projects to ensure they meet NTG
and legislative requirements.
2. Provide authoritative advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on contractor compliance obligations,
audit findings, corrective actions and appropriate risk treatments.
3. Contribute to contractor management capability uplift by developing guidance, sharing compliance insights and lessons
learned, and supporting targeted education and engagement activities that improve understanding and application of
contractual and legislative requirements.
4. Undertake complex compliance investigations and analysis, evaluate evidence and prepare clear, concise and defensible
audit reports, briefs and recommendations for senior management.
5. Travel to regional and remote locations across the Northern Territory, including overnight stays, either via self-drive 4WD
and/or light aircraft to conduct audits, investigations and other compliance activities.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience working in an environment applying legislation, providing expert advice to senior managers
and external stakeholders and in developing, implementing and monitoring governance, compliance and risk management
frameworks and initiatives.
2. Demonstrated ability to lead the complete audit life cycle including the ability to write high level, concise reports with
defensible recommendations within tight deadlines, whilst maintaining impartiality, objectivity and professionalism.
3. Demonstrated experience working with Quality Management and WHS systems including the ability to assess evidence,
evaluate corrective actions to determine compliance with contractual, legislative and management system requirements.
4. Demonstrated ability to manage own performance through effective time management, flexibility in responding to
changing demands, and proficient use of computer applications and software to review, update and extract information.
5. Demonstrated ability in developing and delivering information sessions and engagement activities, driving capability uplift
whilst maintaining effective, collaborative and professional partnerships.
6. Demonstrated ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders on complex or sensitive compliance matters.
7. Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, manage competing priorities and work with a high degree of
autonomy on sensitive or complex matters, while maintaining confidentiality, impartiality, procedural fairness and
professional integrity.
Desirable
1. A Degree or Diploma qualification in Quality Auditing and WHS or related discipline, relevant to the role and awarded by
an Australian institution or equivalent.
2. Certificate of attainment in Lead Auditing.
