Location: St George Hospital, Kogarah
As a Senior Resident Medical Officer in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, you will work within the labour ward, operating theatres, postnatal and gynaecology wards, clinics, and the emergency department. During your time as an SRMO, you will gain confidence and experience to make the next step to becoming an O&G trainee.
The SRMO provides effective medical services to patients under supervision in the complex clinical environment of Women's Health. Responsibilities include co-ordinating the admission, management and discharge planning of patients seen in or admitted to your Unit within the Local Health District and ensuring that the admission and plans are documented.
You will also be responsible for the day-to-day assessment and management of the patients in your Unit and communicating with them and their family the nature of their condition and its treatment. All decisions concerning the patient(s) are in consultation with your immediate supervisor.

St George Hospital Maternity Unit provides care for approximately 2500 births per annum including high risk obstetric care and Fetal Medicine Services. We have a level 5+ Special Care Nursery which can care for babies beyond 32 weeks gestation. The Pelvic Floor Unit at St George is one of the largest Urogynaecological Departments in the Southern Hemisphere seeing more than 5000 women per annum. Additionally, with busy Gynaecological Oncology and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery departments, St George Hospital provides complex gynaecological surgical care to the community with plentiful exposure and training for junior staff. - MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- A minimum of 2 years postgraduate and some experience in obstetrics and gynaecology
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A professional attitude and flexibility in work role with a preparedness and ability to participate in after-hours overtime and on-call rosters.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment.
