About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Truck Driver to join our growing team in Karratha, Western Australia. This is a full-time position offering stable, local work with the opportunity to become part of a company that's grounded in community and driven by values, operating across the waste, environmental services, transport and logistics sectors.The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy vehicles, transporting and handling waste, water and other materials while ensuring all loads, vehicles and deliveries comply with relevant safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
Operating a range of heavy vehicles, including HR trucks, skip bin and hooklift trucks, front-lift trucks, liquid waste trucks and potable water trucks.
Manoeuvring vehicles safely into position for loading and unloading.
Loading and unloading vehicles using lifting, tipping and other appropriate devices.
Observing all safety requirements and procedures when loading and unloading vehicles.
Conducting regular pre-start inspections and quality checks to ensure vehicles are safe and suitable for operation.
Performing basic vehicle maintenance and reporting any mechanical or safety issues.
Estimating and checking load weights to comply with legal load limitations and ensuring safe distribution of weight.
Ensuring goods and materials are properly stowed and securely covered to prevent loss or damage during transportation.
Safely transporting and disposing of waste at approved facilities.
Verifying loading and delivery documentation.
Checking the condition of goods and materials prior to transportation.
Obtaining and maintaining required delivery certifications and documentation.
Maintaining accurate records relating to vehicle operation, loads and deliveries.
Following workplace health and safety, environmental and operational procedures at all times.
Maintaining a high standard of professionalism, reliability and care when operating company vehicles and representing the business.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A current Heavy Rigid (HR) driver's licence – essential.
At least 1 year of relevant truck driving experience.
Experience operating heavy vehicles in a commercial environment.
A strong understanding of safe loading, unloading and transportation practices.
The ability to safely manoeuvre and operate heavy vehicles in different work environments.
A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
A reliable and responsible approach to work.
A willingness to follow procedures and complete tasks safely and efficiently.
The ability to pass required drug and alcohol screening.
Desirable
The following will be highly regarded:
Previous experience in the waste management or environmental services industry.
Experience operating skip bin, hooklift, front-lift, liquid waste or water trucks.
Controlled Waste Licence.
Existing inductions or experience working at sites such as Rio Tinto, MSIC, Pilbara Ports or Toll.
