About the role
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing a portfolio of individual and business clients. The role involves preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax returns, BAS and compliance reports, as well as providing tax planning and business advisory services. You will liaise directly with clients, interpret tax legislation, and identify opportunities for tax efficiencies, including income averaging where applicable. You will oversee work performed by junior team members, ensure accurate and timely completion of engagements, and contribute to process improvements within the firm. There is opportunity to step into a management position as the practice grows.
Key responsibilities

About you
- Strong technical skills in financial accounting, tax compliance, and preparation of financial statements and returns
- Experience providing business advisory services, including tax planning and structuring for individuals and businesses
- Ability to interpret and apply current Australian tax legislation, with experience in complex areas such as income averaging
- Proficiency with accounting and tax software, and solid Excel skills for analysis and reporting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to manage client relationships and explain complex concepts clearly
- Demonstrated ability to review and supervise the work of junior staff and contribute to team development
- Relevant accounting qualifications (e.g. degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance); CA or CPA qualification, or working towards it, strongly preferred
- Previous experience in public practice or a similar professional services environment; exposure to the entertainment or sports industries is an advantage (ideally 5–8 years at a minimum)
- Strong organisational skills, ability to manage multiple deadlines, and a proactive, ethical approach to client service
- Experience with Xero Tax and XPM is highly regarded
