The focus of this position is to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the fabrication, repair and maintenance effort for Council’s assets and fleet of equipment.
Employment Status: Full Time Permanent
Award: Level C7 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream C) Award – State 2017
Salary Range: $3,074.00 gross per fortnight
The successful candidate will have:
High level knowledge and experience in the fabrication, repair and maintenance of various fixed and mobile plant and equipment.
Demonstrated experience and ability to fabricate, repair and maintain assets associated with other key areas of Council. (e.g., civil, building, water, etc).
Ability to read and interpret drawings to a high standard and recognising welding specifications.
Proficiency in MIG, TIG and Arc welding.
Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to determine work priorities.
Good written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels.
Sound computer skills.
Possession and maintenance of a current Queensland “LR” Class Drivers Licence.
Possession and maintenance of a LF High Risk Forklift licence.
Possession and maintenance of a DG High Risk Dogging licence.
This position is required to carry out manual handling, bending, kneeling, twisting, squatting, lifting and carrying, standing for long periods, physical labour.
This position requires the incumbent to undertake periodic field work exposed to inclement weather.
This position is required to travel in order to undertake activities, etc.
This position may be required to work weekends and/or overtime as directed.
This position may be required to work outside of Charters Towers in a camp environment.
This position may be required to perform higher duties, i.e., Workshop Team Leader, when required for relief purposes.
