We are seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic (General) to join our growing workshop team on a full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in motor vehicles using diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.
- Perform routine vehicle servicing and maintenance, including oil changes, brake repairs, suspension work, steering repairs, and engine tune-ups.
- Inspect, dismantle, repair and reassemble engines, transmissions and other vehicle components.
- Conduct road tests and quality checks to ensure vehicles meet manufacturer and roadworthiness standards.
- Interpret technical manuals, service bulletins and workshop instructions.
- Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Australian workplace health and safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with other technicians and workshop staff to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding vehicle issues, repair recommendations and maintenance requirements.
Essential Requirements
- Certificate IV level or higher qualification in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis, or Automotive Technology.
- Minimum one year of recent Australian work experience as a Motor Mechanic.
- Demonstrated experience diagnosing and repairing petrol-powered light vehicles.
- Ability to use modern automotive diagnostic and testing equipment.
- Sound knowledge of vehicle engines, transmissions, suspension, steering and braking systems.
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multicultural team environment and provide professional customer service.
- Commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship and continuous improvement.
- Current Australian driver's licence.
Desirable
- Experience working with a wide range of vehicle makes and models.
- Experience with electronic diagnostic systems and automotive software.
- Additional automotive certifications or manufacturer training.
