About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Principal Structural Engineer (Structural Discipline Lead) to join our Energy & Resources business in Perth. This is a key leadership position responsible for providing technical direction, discipline leadership and oversight of structural engineering delivery across a diverse portfolio of mining, mineral processing, bulk materials handling and industrial infrastructure projects.
As the senior structural engineering authority, you will lead the structural discipline across all phases of engineering delivery, from concept development and feasibility studies through to FEED and detailed design. In addition to driving technical excellence and solving complex engineering challenges, you will act as the Structural Discipline Lead, leading and developing a team of structural engineers and designers, supporting resource planning, technical governance, quality assurance and the continued growth of the structural engineering function.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and governance for the structural engineering discipline across mining and resources projects.
- Lead and develop a team of structural engineers and designers, fostering technical excellence, mentoring and capability development.
- Serve as the Structural Discipline Lead, overseeing discipline workload planning, utilization, resource allocation and technical quality.
- Lead the delivery and review of structural engineering designs, calculations, specifications and technical reports for mining, minerals processing and industrial facilities.
- Provide structural engineering leadership across studies and detailed design projects.
- Drive technical excellence through design reviews, verification activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
- Provide strategic advice and technical solutions to clients, project managers and key stakeholders.
- Support project planning, scope development, budgeting, scheduling and risk management activities.
- Contribute to business development, client engagement and proposal preparation within the mining and resources sector.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, client specifications and industry best practice.
You will bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), Registered Professional Engineer or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Significant experience in structural engineering design and delivery within the mining, minerals processing, resources and heavy industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated experience leading structural engineering teams and providing discipline leadership.
- Strong technical expertise in structural steel, reinforced concrete and industrial infrastructure design.
- Extensive knowledge of Australian Standards, relevant design codes and mining industry engineering practices.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering delivery across studies and detailed design phases.
- Working knowledge of structural analysis and design software such as SpaceGass, STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D, ETABS or similar.
- Familiarity with engineering design and collaboration platforms such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit
- Strong commercial awareness and experience supporting project performance, planning and execution.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and client relationship management skills.
- A collaborative leadership style with a focus on mentoring, coaching and team development.
