About you
You are an experienced station leader with a strong background in extensive sheep production, Merino sheep husbandry and remote pastoral operations. You enjoy leading by example, building capable teams and supporting safe, efficient and well-planned station programs. You're practical, calm under pressure, comfortable working remotely and ready to take ownership of day-to-day activities alongside the Station Manager.
Your key duties and tasks

Support the Station Manager to coordinate day-to-day station operations

Lead sheep and wool activities including mustering, drafting, processing, shearing, crutching, lamb marking and livestock movements.

Promote high standards of animal welfare, low-stress livestock handling and safe work practices.

Supervise, coach and support station team members and contractors.

Lead pre-starts, toolbox talks and practical safety conversations.

Monitor livestock condition, feed, water, pasture and seasonal conditions.

Oversee water infrastructure checks and maintenance, including bores, pipelines, tanks, troughs, pumps and windmills.

Assist with plant, vehicle, machinery, fencing, yards and general station maintenance.

Maintain accurate livestock, treatment, movement, water, maintenance and compliance records.

Support biosecurity, chemical handling, environmental and station compliance requirements.
What you will need
-
Experience in extensive sheep production, preferably in large-scale pastoral operations.

Strong knowledge of Merino sheep husbandry, animal health, welfare standards and low-stress livestock handling.

Experience supervising teams and coordinating livestock and station operations

Practical skills across coordinating and running shearing, crutching, lamb marking and seasonal husbandry programs.

Hands-on ability with water infrastructure, fencing, plant, vehicles, machinery and general station maintenance.

Mechanical aptitude and confidence operating station vehicles and equipment.

Ability to lead, coach and develop people while promoting a strong safety culture.

Experience maintaining livestock, QA, movement, treatment and compliance records.

Sound understanding of biosecurity, chemical handling, environmental management and pastoral lease obligations.

Current unrestricted manual driver's licence.
-
First Aid, firearms competency and remote-area experience will be highly regarded.

Physical Demands
This is a physically demanding job that includes both indoor and outdoor work in all types of weather and temperature environments.
This job can be physically strenuous from time to time. You will be expected to be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, lift, grip, grasp, push and pull various tools and equipment. You will need the ability to frequently lift, push and pull 10-20 kilograms and occasionally more. This job may require the ability to ascend and descend ladders and work around livestock, plant, vehicles, machinery and remote station infrastructure.
