Job Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: Dasco HQ
Job Category: Construction
For over 30 years, DASCO has been building more than homes. As a privately owned Australian developer and builder, our portfolio spans more than 7,000 dwellings valued in excess of $2.4 billion.
We're a 4.5-star iCIRT rated builder, a certified Great Place to Work, and a team that genuinely lives our values: Excellence. Respect. Partnership. Reliability. Safety.
With a strong pipeline of major residential projects ahead, we're looking for a Leading Hand ready to step up and help us deliver.
The Leading Hand is responsible for supervising and coordinating tradespeople on-site, ensuring that work is carried out efficiently, safely, and to the required quality standards. This role provides hands-on leadership, supporting the site team in maintaining smooth construction operations while enforcing safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
This is hands-on leadership on the floor plate. Working closely with the Site Supervisor, you'll be the person keeping the day-to-day moving; directing trades, managing sequencing and access, and making sure the programme stays on track without compromising on safety or quality.
Day to day, you will:
- Lead and coordinate site crews and trades across your area of the project
- Manage sequencing, access and materials movement to keep work flowing between trades
- Support the Site Supervisor in driving daily programme targets
- Champion safe work practices — toolbox talks, housekeeping, and calling out hazards before they become incidents
- Monitor quality of works and flag issues early
- Assist with site set-up, deliveries, crane and hoist coordination as required
- Be a visible, reliable presence the crew can count on
You're an experienced tradesperson or site all-rounder who's ready to lead, or already leading, a crew. You know how a site runs, you communicate clearly, and people naturally look to you when things need sorting out.
You'll bring:
- Proven experience on residential or commercial construction sites
- Trade qualification or equivalent hands-on site experience
- Current White Card (General Construction Induction)
- The ability to read drawings and understand construction sequencing
- Strong communication skills and a calm, practical approach under pressure
- A genuine commitment to safety — yours and everyone else's
Highly regarded (but not essential):
- Experience on high-rise or multi-storey residential projects
- First Aid certificate
- Tickets such as EWP, forklift, dogman/rigging, or working at heights
- Previous experience leading or supervising a small crew
